# [PowerAI]Turn Text into Slides Instantly

## Summary

Have a Word outline or a pile of bullet points? Even if you can't design a slide to save your life, you can get an editable PPT in minutes.

---

## Prerequisites

**Who this is for:**
- You already have some text on hand — a Word outline, a list of bullet points, or a short write-up (think a weekly report, a training agenda, or a project intro).
- You're not great at making PPTs, or you *can* do it but hate wasting time on layout — you just want to get the "skeleton" up first and refine it later.

**Two paths — pick whichever tool you already have:**

| Path | Tool | What it is | What you need |
|------|------|------------|---------------|
| Path A | Microsoft 365 Copilot (used inside PowerPoint) | Microsoft's built-in AI assistant for Office | **Requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license** (in plain terms: this is a paid AI add-on you subscribe to separately); also needs OneDrive (Microsoft's cloud storage — explained below). (This means OneDrive for Business tied to a work or school account, not a personal drive.) |
| Path B | iFlytek Zhiwen (讯飞智文) | An online AI presentation service (web or WeChat mini-program), **not a built-in Office feature** | Any internet-connected computer or phone will do; the free tier works, but some premium templates and watermark removal require a membership |

> **Version assumptions (stated up front so you don't get lost looking for a button):**
> - Path A screenshots use **PowerPoint (Microsoft 365 Current Channel or another latest-release channel; Copilot is delivered via automatic updates, from 2024 onward, with the Copilot sidebar on the right)** as the example.
> - Path B uses **iFlytek Zhiwen's web version (zhiwen.xfyun.cn), interface as of 2026**.
> - Button locations may vary slightly between versions, but the core flow — "feed text to AI → pick a style → generate → download" — never changes.

**A few terms, in plain English, for first-timers:**
- **Slide Master** = the "master template" that decides the fonts, colors, and layouts for the entire deck. Change it once and the whole deck follows.
- **Current Channel** = the Microsoft 365 update channel that automatically delivers the newest features; Copilot ships through these latest channels.
- **OneDrive / SharePoint** = Microsoft's "cloud drive / team file space." Put a file there and the AI can read it; keep it on your local computer and the AI can't reach it.
- **Sidebar** = the chat panel that stays docked on the right side of the app, where Copilot lives.

## Pain Point

> Your boss drops a line: "Turn this material into a PPT — I need it tomorrow morning."
>
> You open the file and — it's a Word doc, or just a lump of bullet points. Your heart sinks: what colors? How do I lay out the title slide? Where does the chart go? You struggle for two hours and still end up with a "Word doc that moved into PowerPoint," ugly enough that you can't bear to look at it yourself.
>
> The truth is, the hard part of this job isn't "writing the content" (you already have it) — it's "spreading the content across good-looking slides." That step is best handed to AI.

## Goal

When you finish, you'll have a **PPTX file with a complete structure, consistent style, and ready-to-edit** content: a cover, a sense of contents, and clear bullet points on each slide instead of walls of text. Spend ten more minutes adding your data and swapping in images, and you can produce deliverables at scale.

## Walkthrough

We'll walk through a realistic example together. Let's say you need to make a **"2026 Q1 Work Report."**

### Step 1: Prepare your "source text" (same for both paths)

Get your text organized first — **one sentence for the title, then bullets underneath**. AI hates "one big mushy paragraph"; the clearer you break it up, the more accurate the generation.

Suggested format (copy it back and just change the words):

```text
Topic: 2026 Q1 Work Report
1. Performance Overview
- Sales revenue: ¥12M, up 15% YoY
- 80 new clients signed; 92% renewal rate
2. Key Initiatives
- Launched new CRM system; sales follow-up efficiency up 30%
- Team grew to 15 people, filling pre-sales roles
3. Issues
- Delivery cycle too long, averaging 12 days
- Slow after-sales response; tickets picked up only after avg. 4 hours
4. Next-Quarter Plan
- Optimize delivery process; target: cut to 8 days
- Introduce automated customer service to speed up order intake
```

> **Screenshot tip:** Show a screenshot of the "organized source text" (Word or Notepad is fine) so readers see the "title + bullets" look.

---

### Path A: With Microsoft 365 Copilot (in PowerPoint)

> ⚠️ **Prerequisite reminder: From this step on, every step requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license.** Without it, you won't even see the buttons below. Not sure if you have one? Ask your company IT, or look for the word "Copilot" in the top-right or right side of PowerPoint.

**Step 1: Save your source as a Word file, then put it in OneDrive.**
Create a new Word doc, paste in the source text above, and save it as "2026Q1 Work Report.docx". **Key point: it must be saved to OneDrive (cloud storage) or your company's SharePoint — not just your local computer (this means the enterprise cloud drive tied to your company account, not a personal drive like 1drv.ms)** — Copilot can only read files "in the cloud"; it can't reach local files.

**Step 2: Open PowerPoint (Microsoft 365 version, requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license) and create a blank presentation.**

**Step 3: Open the Copilot sidebar (requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license).**
Click the Copilot button on the **Home** tab at the top (the icon may also appear above the slide) to bring up the Copilot sidebar on the right.

**Step 4: Have Copilot read your file and generate slides (requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license).**
In the sidebar, look for "**Create a presentation from a file**" (in the English UI it may read *Create a presentation from file*), click it, and select your "2026Q1 Work Report.docx" from OneDrive.
If you don't see that button, you can also just type in the chat box (see the prompt text in the "Code blocks" section below).

**Step 5: Wait for generation, review slide by slide, and fine-tune by chatting.**
It first gives you an outline, then spreads it into slides. If you're not happy, just keep instructing it, e.g.:
- "Add a chart note about the sales trend to slide 2"
- "Split the 'Issues' slide into two slides, one issue per slide"
- "Make the overall tone a bit more formal"

**Step 6: Swap the master, verify the facts, and export.**
What you get is a "rough shell." Remember to: switch to a **Slide Master** that fits your company or occasion (the master template that controls fonts and colors), **manually double-check every number and date** the AI wrote, then "File → Save As PPTX."

> **Screenshot tip:** Capture ① the Copilot sidebar on the right with the "Create a presentation from a file" button; ② the generated outline preview; ③ the final slide after changing the master.

### Path B: With iFlytek Zhiwen (讯飞智文) (online AI presentation service, web / mini-program)

> ⚠️ **Prerequisite reminder: iFlytek Zhiwen (讯飞智文) is an online AI presentation service (web at zhiwen.xfyun.cn or the WeChat mini-program "讯飞智文"), not a local Office feature — it needs an internet connection.** It doesn't depend on whether you have Microsoft 365 installed, and you can use it from your phone.

**Step 1: Open iFlytek Zhiwen (讯飞智文).**
On your computer browser, go to **zhiwen.xfyun.cn**, or search WeChat for the mini-program "**讯飞智文**."

**Step 2: Choose "Generate PPT from text/document" and feed in your source text.**
The home page usually has entries like "**Generate from topic/document**" or "**Generate from text**." **Paste** the source text above directly into the input box; or choose "Upload document" and drag in your Word (.docx) file — either works.

**Step 3: Pick a style template and click Generate.**
It lets you choose a layout set, e.g. "Business Blue," "Minimal White," or "Tech Vibe." Pick the one that best fits your occasion, then click "Generate" / "Start Creating."

**Step 4: Review the outline and edit content in the web editor.**
After generation you enter the online editor: the outline is on the left (edit titles, add/delete slides), and each slide preview is on the right. You can:
- Edit the text directly;
- Click "Smart image" to swap images, or upload your own;
- Adjust font size and change colors.

**Step 5: Export to PPTX.**
Click "**Export**" at the top-right → choose "PPTX" to download to your computer. **Note: the free version's export may carry a watermark or limit the page count; removing the watermark / unlocking usually requires a membership.** If that bothers you, export a PDF first to check the result before deciding.

> **Screenshot tip:** Capture ① iFlytek Zhiwen's home-page "Generate from text" entry; ② the style template selection page; ③ the online editor (outline + preview); ④ the location of the Export button.

## Code Blocks (Prompts)

> This is a "no-code" tutorial, so the "code blocks" below are the **prompt text you copy directly to the AI** — not a program.

**① Path A · Microsoft 365 Copilot chat prompt (requires license):**

```text
Create a presentation based on my file "2026Q1 Work Report.docx" in OneDrive.
Requirements:
1. Make the first slide a cover with the title "2026 Q1 Work Report";
2. Group the content into four sections — "Performance Overview / Key Initiatives / Issues / Next-Quarter Plan" — one section per part;
3. Present each slide as bullet points, not long paragraphs;
4. End with a "Thank You" closing slide;
5. Overall business style with a clean, simple color scheme.
```

> **Tip:** The most reliable approach is to use the "Create a presentation from a file" button above to select the file. If you type manually in the chat box, you can enter / and then select the file name to reference it.

**② Path B · iFlytek Zhiwen (讯飞智文) "AI outline" prompt (paste into the text box, or send in its chat mode):**

```text
Turn the work report below into a PPT outline of about 8 slides,
with bullet points on each slide plus one image suggestion per slide, in a clean business style:
Topic: 2026 Q1 Work Report
1. Performance Overview
- Sales revenue: ¥12M, up 15% YoY
- 80 new clients signed; 92% renewal rate
2. Key Initiatives
- Launched new CRM system; sales follow-up efficiency up 30%
- Team grew to 15 people, filling pre-sales roles
3. Issues
- Delivery cycle too long, averaging 12 days
- Slow after-sales response; tickets picked up only after avg. 4 hours
4. Next-Quarter Plan
- Optimize delivery process; target: cut to 8 days
- Introduce automated customer service to speed up order intake
```

> **Tip:** In the prompt, spell out "how many slides, how many sections, bullets per slide, what style" — the AI's output will match your intent better. This is exactly what the earlier article "A3 Prompt Engineering for Office (Starter)" covers in depth — revisit it if your prompts feel off.

## Why It Works

Why does this trick work? Because the hardest part of making a PPT is "organizing + laying out," and that's exactly AI's strength: a **large language model (LLM)** — a kind of AI that understands language — first recognizes the structure of your text: which sentence is a title, which is a bullet, and how things group together; then it applies a design template to spread the text across slides. AI is great at "making content look neat and well-categorized," but not at "inventing facts for you" — so numbers, names, and dates must always be verified by you. Treat it as your "layout assistant," not your "content editor," and you'll get the highest efficiency.

## FAQ / Troubleshooting

**Q1: Can't find the Copilot button in PowerPoint, or it's grayed out?**
- Most likely you **don't have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license** (this is a separate subscription, not something you get just by installing Office); or your Office isn't on the "Current Channel" latest version. Confirm the license first; if you don't have it, take Path B.

**Q2: Copilot says "can't find the file"?**
- Your source Word doc **wasn't put in OneDrive / SharePoint**, only on your local computer. Move it to the cloud drive and try again.

**Q3: iFlytek Zhiwen's output is messy, with bullets crammed onto one slide?**
- Your source text isn't clearly segmented. Go back to "Step 1," organize the text into "big headings + short bullets," and regenerate — the result improves immediately.

**Q4: The exported PPTX won't open / shows garbled text?**
- Re-export once from the web version; or export a PDF first to confirm the content is correct, then convert to PPTX. The WeChat mini-program's export may be weaker — the web version is recommended.

**Q5: The free version has a watermark — can I remove it?**
- Removing iFlytek Zhiwen's watermark or unlocking page limits usually requires a membership; you can also manually delete or cover the watermark image in PowerPoint (only for templates you're authorized to modify).

## Pitfalls (Hard-Earned Lessons)

1. **You must manually verify the outline and numbers the AI writes.** It may "imagine" a plausible-looking sales figure, date, or name. Before any formal external report, go through every number against the original source — this is a red line you can't skip.
2. **Default fonts and images carry copyright risk.** The images and fonts AI auto-insert aren't necessarily "commercially usable." For materials sent to clients or published externally, swap in your company-licensed fonts and a commercially-licensed image library, or upload your own assets.
3. **Generated content is often "all skeleton, little flesh."** AI gives you structure, but key arguments, examples, and data usually need you to fill in. Don't submit it as-is — add the reasoning behind *why it's up 15%* to make it presentable.
4. **When Copilot is unavailable, don't panic — have a backup.** No license, flaky network, company ban — that's when online tools like iFlytek Zhiwen, Tongyi, and Wenxin Yiyan are ready substitutes; conversely, when local Office won't open, the web version still delivers.
5. **Don't paste confidential / unpublished data into public clouds.** Pasting internal financials or unreleased plans directly into an "online cloud service" risks leakage. For sensitive material, prefer local Microsoft 365 Copilot (data stays within the enterprise account), or desensitize it before uploading.
